LEBANON, Tenn. – Looking like they may drop their second-straight match for the first time in two seasons, the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team pulled out a 3-2 win over Cumberland University on the road Tuesday night.
 
It was their second straight five-set match as the Tigers recently dropped a five-set match to Warner University last Saturday at home. Campbellsville earned a first set win before losing the second and third then winning the final two as the set scores went 25-23, 22-25, 28-30, 25-19, and 15-8.
 
In those crucial fourth and fifth sets, the Tigers went 12-for-26 (.308) and 8-for-12 (.583) on the attack as the Phoenix struggle hitting the ball with percentages of .036 in the fourth and -.154 in the fifth.
 
Individually, the Tigers had big kill nights from 
Ramon Matos and 
Rafael Cruz as the pair combined for 27 of the team's 53 kills with Matos finishing at a 16-high 16 and Cruz adding 11. 
Jose Viera Cerame added seven kills with 
Jakob Zum Kolk (5), 
Noah Henkel (5), 
Andres Laboy (4), and 
Max Stotridge (3) producing multiple kills in the match.
 
Cumberland also had two players in double figures with kills as Christian Lester finished with a match-high 19 kills on 37 attacks with Luka Ilic having 10 kills but also finishing with 12 errors for a negative hitting percentage.
 
The Tigers will have one more road match inside of Mid-South Conference play this week when they face Georgetown College this Friday night at 7 p.m. ET before hosting Midway on Saturday.
