LEBANON, Tenn. – Two first half goals weren't enough for the Campbellsville University men's soccer team as they dropped a 4-2 result against Cumberland University on the road Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers led 2-0 nearly 15 minutes into the game after
Eleder Goicoechea and
Gustav Oskarsson scored in the 3
rd and 15
th minute respectively to give Campbellsville the start they were looking for.
They held that lead until the 42
nd minute when Thomas Groenhilder scored on a penalty kick to cut the Campbellsville lead in half at 2-1 going into the between periods break.
The second half was more in favor of the Phoenix as they outshot Campbellsville 7-4 and scored three goals in the final 45 minutes as Bakary Bagayoko (66'), Brandon Gonzalez (72'), and Groenhilder (75') were able to fire shots past Tiger goalkeeper
Jeremi Campagnolo.
A pair of yellow cards were handed out in the game as Campbellsville's
Sebastiano Musu was booked in the 31
st minute and Cumberland's Daniel Picken received a yellow in the 63
rd minute.
Campbellsville will get back on the road this Tuesday when they travel to Pulaski, Tenn. for an 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT scheduled kickoff time against Martin Methodist.
