BLUEFIELD, Va. – Playing in their first match in nearly a week, the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team rolled over Bluefield College to a 3-0 sweep victory on the road Monday night.
 
The Tigers and Rams played a tight first set before CU took over in the second and third to produce a three-set win by scores of 25-22, 25-18, and 25-14.
 
In that three-point first set, the Tigers trailed in the hitting percentage category with BC going 11-of-25 with three errors (.320) but Campbellsville having a higher volume of attacks and kills to edge out the win going 16-of-32 with eight errors (.250).
 
From that point on, Bluefield did not hit for a percentage over .100 in either of the remaining sets as CU finished hitting .172 and an outstanding .609 in the third set to close out the sweep.
 
Rafael Cruz had the match-high in kills, going 14-of-25 with only four errors to finish at an even .400 hitting percentage. 
Jakob Zum Kolk and 
Ho Yin Leung added seven and six kills respectively in support from the outside.
 
Setter 
Jeremy Hernandez had a strong match playing full rotation for the Tigers as 
Ryan Smith did not make the trip as the senior setter finished with a match-high 31 assists while adding five digs and going a perfect 4-of-4 on attacks.
 
For Bluefield, Alberto Chiaparini and Jariel Diaz led the attacking efforts with 10 and eight kills respectively as no other Rams player had more than three kills in the match.
 
Campbellsville will stay on the road this weekend for their second Mid-South Conference Pod of the season as they travel to Waleska, Ga. for matches against Life, Webber International, and Reinhardt on Friday and Saturday.
