PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Playing a makeup game from Feb. 28, the Campbellsville University soccer team got back in the win column with a huge 9-0 win on the road against University of Pikeville Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers scored five goals in the first half then finished up with four more in the second half on their way to their largest margin of victory of the season. Their previous season-high in goals came in their 7-0 win over Brescia in the fall.
Of the nine goals, six of them came from three different Tigers in
Kalvin Semedo,
Eleder Goicoechea, and
Sergio Tarrida as that trio each had two goals in the game. Both Semedo and Tarrida added an assist in the game as CU also got goals from
Marc Boye and
Gospel Kazako with the ninth goal coming off of a UPike player for an own goal.
Campbellsville significantly outshot the Bears 25-3 in the game with Tiger goalkeeper
Jeremi Campagnolo only needing to make a single save in his fifth individual shutout of the season.
Pikeville tried two separate goalkeepers in each half as starter Jalen Smith made five saves in the first half while allowing five goals and Gabriel Torres played the second half to make only one save while allowing the last four goals.
Campbellsville will head into the postseason now after their a 10-5-2 overall season with a 5-4-2 record inside of Mid-South Conference play as they could either receive an opening round bye or host an opening round game to start the tournament.
