Tigers win third straight with 3-0 sweep over Midway

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – In their second match over a 24-hour stretch, the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team picked up their second win in as many days with a 3-0 sweep of Midway University.

The Tigers rolled to set wins of a six-point or greater margin with set scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-15. Campbellsville held the advantage in every major statistical category with their biggest discrepancy coming in points scored for and blocks in favor of CU.

Campbellsville scored 45 points with either their kills, aces, or blocks with the Eagles also providing the Tigers with 40 points via attack errors (24) or service errors (16).

The top point scorer for the Tiger was senior Rafael Cruz as he finished with seven kills, two aces, and was part of five block assists. Freshman Isaac Paches also added seven kills on just 11 total attacks while adding an ace and two block assists.

In a three-set match with a lot of errors from the other side, there were a lot of total kills for CU but the ball was spread around nicely by setters Ryan Smith and Jeremy Hernandez as Noah Henkel and Ramon Matos both had five kills in the middle, Ho Yin Leung had three kills with Smith and Jakob Zum Kolk both adding a kill apiece.

Jay Montalvo had another double digit night in digs as the reigning MSC Player of the Year dug up 12 Midway attacks.

Midway's leader in kills was Adrian Constant as he had a match-high 11 but also had seven of the team's 24 errors and also had five errors on the serve.

Campbellsville will continue on a busy schedule, adding an exhibition match against University of Jamestown Monday night before returning to official action on Tuesday when they host Cumberland University at Gosser Gymnasium.
