Lady Tiger softball finishes eight-game homestand with doubleheader against Brescia

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Winners in seven of their last eight games, the Campbellsville University softball team will look to make it nine of their last ten when they host Brescia University at Hord Softball Field Wednesday afternoon.

Campbellsville University is allowing spectators at Hord Field as long as they maintain proper social distancing within family groups and wear masks at all times. The doubleheader, scheduled for a game-one first pitch at 1 p.m. ET, will also be streamed online via the CU Sports Network as Zach Clements will be on the call.

LADY TIGER NOTES
  • CU moved to 5-1 in Mid-South Conference play after winning three of the four games in their weekend series against Freed-Hardeman to move to 10-6 overall.
  • Pitching and defense has been the key lately for the Lady Tigers as they gave up zero or one run in their five wins over FHU and Asbury combined last week.
  • Katy Chadwell picked up three of those five wins in the circle with a pair of complete game wins and a win in relief in the finale against the Lions. In her start against Asbury, Chadwell struck out a school record 15 batters.
  • Offensively they came up with key hits at the right times last week, including a pair of home runs from Lexi Miller and a big home run in game two of the series against FHU from Tori Humphrey.

SCOUTING BRESCIA
  • The Bearcats have only played four games so far this season as they all came last week in doubleheader losses to both University of the Cumberlands and St. Francis.
  • Over those four games, BU was outscored 31-5 with the Patriots shutting them out in their pair of games.
  • None of their pitchers has an ERA below 7.78 with Raini Gerometta and Madison Simms leading the team in innings pitched with nine and seven respectively.
  • Cassie Moss has been their most successful hitter based on average at the plate with her 4-for-9 (.444) season so far with a walk.

LOOKING AHEAD
  • Campbellsville will play their next six games away from home following the doubleheader with Brescia when they play a conference series at Bethel University followed by a midweek doubleheader at Midway University.
