Tiger soccer begins postseason play with second matchup against Pikeville in six days

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Finishing the regular season as the No. 5 seed in the Mid-South Conference, the Campbellsville University men's soccer team will host an MSC Tournament Opening Round game against University of Pikeville at Finley Stadium Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. ET.
 
200 total tickets will be available for Campbellsville fans only to be able to attend the game at Finley Stadium, no fans of the visiting team are permitted at this time, as general admission tickets will be available at https://campbellsvilletigers.com/sports/2020/7/13/tickets-homepage.aspx.
 
Fans in attendance will be screened prior to entry and must follow CU's health and safety guidelines that includes wearing a mask at all times and sitting socially distanced within family groups in the stands.
 
The game will air on the CU Sports Network online as Zach Clements will be on the call live from Finley Stadium as fans unable to attend can watch at www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch.
 
TIGER NOTES
  • CU finished the regular season at 10-5-2 overall with a 5-4-2 Mid-South Conference record to finish just percentage points behind the No. 4 seed, which would have meant an opening round bye into the quarterfinals.
  • The Tigers scored 38 goals on the season while only letting up 17 goals against for a 2.38 goals per game average and a 1.06 goals against average.
  • Forward Sebastiano Musu led the team in goals for the regular season, finishing with 11, which also tied for second in the Mid-South Conference.
  • Goalkeeper Jeremi Campagnolo has been a strong newcomer in net for CU as he finished the 2020 regular season with 45 saves, six shutouts, and a 1.02 goals against average, as those rank third, first, and third in the conference.
 
SCOUTING PIKEVILLE
  • Pikeville went winless in conference play at 0-10-1 and only won their first two non-conference games back in the fall to finish at 2-10-1 overall.
  • The Bears and the Tigers matched up in Pikeville this past Sunday as CU took home a 9-0 win, their largest margin of victory of the season.
  • Favio Govea was the team's leader in goals as he scored four of the team's nine goals on the season.
  • Goalkeeper Jalen Smith has the most starts for the Bears as he started 11 games, including against Campbellsville where he gave up five goals in the first half.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
  • With a win in the opening round, the Tigers will move on to the quarterfinals where they would matchup with the No. 4 seed Martin Methodist College.
  • All men's soccer MSC Tournament games will be hosted at Finley Stadium and air on the CU Sports Network starting on Friday, Apr. 9.
