Three homers in the sixth lead Tigers to series opening Senior Night win over UPIKE

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Three home runs in the sixth inning and strong relief pitching pushed Campbellsville baseball to a series opening Senior Night win over Pikeville on Friday night, 10-4.

The Tigers (13-14, 8-9 MSC) had homers from Aaron Greenfield, Noah Amenta, and Jaylen Turner in the fifth inning to score five runs and push their lead to 9-4 after six.

Amenta was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored, while Turner was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and the solo homer. Eddie Arteaga led CU with three hits with a run scored and RBI as well.

On the mound, Zach Bromstead was solid tossing 5.1 innings with nine strikeouts – which is the second most on the season for him. He allowed four earned runs off six hits tonight.

In relief, Mason Lee was lights out. He finished tossing the final 3.2 innings with two strikeouts and did not allow a base runner.

UPIKE (10-25, 5-14 MSC) scored the game's first run before the Tigers plated two in the bottom half of the first inning. Amenta drove in Colton Titus with a single to right field. Then Tommy Sepulveda drove in Matt Lawson with a fielder's choice to put CU ahead, 2-1.

The Bears knotted the game at 2-2 with their own RBI fielder's choice but that was close as UPIKE would get. In the bottom of the third, CU answered once again with two more runs. Sepulveda drove in Turner and Lawson with a double and he was followed with a sac fly by Tyler Cox to put CU ahead, 4-2.

After a UPIKE RBI single in the fourth, the Tigers scored the final six runs and didn't let the Bears reach base in the final 3.2 innings.
