CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – A weekend that will determine a lot of the seeding heading into postseason play will get started a little early for the Campbellsville University baseball team as they travel to Crestview Hills, Ky. for a three-game series against Thomas More University.
The Tigers and Saints moved their series from a Friday/Saturday series to a Thursday/Friday series due to forecasted rain in Crestview Hills on Saturday. The two teams will play a single game on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET with the Friday slate now having the doubleheader to start at 1 p.m. ET at Thomas More Baseball Field.
Per Thomas More's fan attendance policy, no fans of visiting teams are permitted at any of their athletic events. The Saints will be providing live video and stats coverage of the games at

MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE SEEDING
- This season, with the addition of Freed-Hardeman, Bethel, and Martin Methodist to the Mid-South Conference, the MSC Tournament will have a new format with every team but the regular season champion and No. 1 seed competing in an opening round three-game series.
- The seeding matchups will be No. 2 vs. No. 11, No. 3 vs. No. 10, No. 4 vs. No. 9, No. 5 vs. No. 8, and No. 6 vs. No. 7 with the higher seeds hosting the series as the home team.
- As it currently stands, Campbellsville is the No. 7 seed with a 9-10 MSC record as Thomas More is just one game ahead of the Tigers at 10-9 at the No. 5 seed.
- Other factors will play a large role into seeding, but it is looking like the winner of the CU vs. TMU series will host an opening round series, opponents to be determined, for a chance to play at the final tournament site in Bowling Green.
TIGER NOTES
- Campbellsville is currently on a two-game losing streak after finishing their last MSC series against Pikeville with a loss and dropping their home finale in non-conference play to Union College on Tuesday 4-2.
- As of late, the Tigers' success has center around their offense as they've given up no more than six runs over their last 11 games but in their wins, they are averaging 10.8 runs scored per game and in their losses they average just 2.3 runs per game.
- On the mound, Korren Thompson has been able to provide the CU pitching staff some length in his last three appearances as he went five innings against both Pikeville and Cumberlands after a 6.2 inning performance against Georgetown, earning the University of Cincinnati transfer a spot in the weekend rotation as of late.
- Offensively, the Tigers have eight players who have started over 20 games hitting over .300 but the consistency of run production and power has been limited with a current team slugging percentage of only .395.
SCOUTING THOMAS MORE
- The Saints are 20-23 overall on the season with their previously mentioned 10-9 Mid-South Conference record as they most recently lost two out of three to University of the Cumberlands last weekend.
- TMU is hitting for a .276 team batting average as Bailey Martin is their individual offensive leader hitting .378 with 54 hits, 39 runs scored, 29 RBIs, 12 doubles, two triples, and four home runs.
- Thomas More's team ERA currently sits at 7.21 as opposing hitters are batting .302 against them.
- The three staters that Campbellsville is likely to see all have seven or more starts on the year in Mitchell Morris, Hunter Nantz, and Mychal Grogan as Grogan leads the team in starts with 10 and innings with 57 while touting lowest ERA of pitchers with multiple starts on the year at 4.58.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The season will not end with this weekend series as the Tigers will get on the road for one more regular season contest next Wednesday, Apr. 28 when they travel to Athens, Tenn. for a meeting with No. 1 Tennessee Wesleyan.
