CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY – Lady Tiger Volleyball signs
Salma Gonzalez-Sosa, a graduate transfer from Coppin State University, for the 2021-2022 season.
A 5-8 setter and outside hitter from Isabela Puerto Rico, Gonzalez-Sosa chose to transfer to CU in part for its "very friendly environment with an amazing culture." At Campbellsville, she seeks to earn a master's degree in sports management.
At West Port High School in Florida, Gonzalez-Sosa graduated in the top 10% of her class and received presidential recognition for academics. She played her freshman and sophomore years of college at Savannah State University before transferring to Coppin State University for her junior and senior years. In 2017, Gonzalez-Sosa organized a supply drive for Puerto Rico for Hurricane Maria relief, collecting volleyball gear for players and clubs who lost their resources due to the disaster. She also helped arrange support for families who lost their homes due to earthquakes in Puerto Rico in 2020. Gonzalez-Sosa continues to help young athletes of Puerto Rico by giving virtual orientations about receiving collegiate athletic scholarships.
Gonzalez-Sosa is the daughter of Omar Gonzalez and Ivette Sosa.
