Musu’s hat trick propels the Tigers to 3-0 season start

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. The Campbellsville University Tigers exit Finley Stadium on Saturday night with a win against the Oakland City University Mighty Oaks 3-1.

Right out of the gates the game was physical. Over the course of the first half, both teams would rack up five fouls each. That was no hindrance for sophomore forward Sebastiano Musu however.

Musu's first half hat trick gave him the most goals he's had in a game this season thus far. His first connection came in the 23rd minute after putting on a dribbling clinic. Just over a minute later, a massive boot had Musu sprinting down the pitch for a breakaway that he chipped to the left of the keeper. It was a free kick from Musu in the 40th minute after a tackle in the box that earned him the hat trick.

The Tigers ended the first half with eight shots (six on goal) compared to three shots (none on goal) for Oakland City. The Mighty Oaks' keeper did bring down three saves though, preventing the lead at the half from being any larger.

The tension and animosity between the two teams increased in the second half while the goals slowed. For the game, six yellow cards were handed out with four assigned to the Tigers and two to the Mighty Oaks.

The only score came in the 73rd minute on a penalty kick by Oakland City's Ian Fierro after a questionable foul was called in the box. Campbellsville would conclude the contest with a 17 (13 shots on goal) to eight (two on goal) shot advantage.

Campbellsville men's soccer now moves to 3-0 on the season as they prepare for another home match on September 15th against Asbury University at 8 p.m. ET.
