Tiger football hits the road to face off against (7) Reinhardt

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – After having a week off due to their previous game being canceled due to COVID-19 protocols, the Campbellsville University Fighting Tigers (0-1) return to the gridiron against the (7) Reinhardt University Eagles (2-0) this Saturday at 12 p.m. ET in Waleska, Ga.

TIGER NOTES
  • The Tigers will look to rebound from their home opener against the Union College Bulldogs where they were defeated 33-18. Campbellsville will look to increase their consistency across all quarters after being down by only a field goal at the half but then were outscored 20-8 in the second half.
  • Graduate transfer running back D'Anta Sipp will strive to break 100 yards once again. In their previous contest, Sipp averaged 7.6 yards per carry, recorded a touchdown, and ran for a remarkable 129 yards.
  • Campbellsville will need a more physical and effective run defense. Against Union, the Bulldogs were able to gain 332 yards on the ground.
  • After this game, the remaining seven games of the Tigers' schedule will be against Mid-South Conference opponents.
 
SCOUTING REINHARDT
  • In their most recent game against Warner University (Fla.) Royals, the Eagles recorded 319 rushing yards and shutout the Royals 45-0. Junior running back Devyn Collins dominated the workload there with 208 yards total and four rushing touchdowns.
  • Junior linebacker Kenneth Lowery was named Mid-South Conference Appalachian Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Lowery posted six tackles in Reinhardt's win versus the Royals.
  • The first game of their season saw the Eagles battle but fall to FCS' 20th ranked Kennesaw State 35-25. In that game it was junior quarterback Billy Hall who led the Eagles with 128 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, and two touchdowns through the air.
  • The NAIA national office revealed the Top 25 for football on Monday and the Eagles move up one position from their initial ranking of 8th.
MATCHUP HISTORY
  • The Campbellsville University football team is 2-3 all-time against Reinhardt University.
  • The most recent game between the two universities was in Campbellsville on September 14th, 2019 where the Tigers were shutout 28-0.
  • The Fighting Tigers are 1-1 against the Eagles in Waleska. Campbellsville won there November 15th 2014 behind Jacob Russell's 20 completions and 172 throwing yards with a final score of 31-14.

  • Campbellsville will return home for their next game when Thomas More University comes to town. That contest is scheduled for Thursday, September 30 at 6 p.m. ET.
