CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University volleyball team defended Gosser Gymnasium with a 3-0 Sweep over Thomas More Thursday night.
The Merrick sisters were dynamic.
Cierra Merrick led the way for Campbellsville tallying 11 kills and five digs. Paige would follow suit posting a double-double with 32 assists, 17 digs and five kills. Paige would hit 5-for-7 ending with a .571 attack percentage.
Set one went in the favor of the Lady Tigers.
Sutton Mason would get the call off the bench and lead Campbellsville with 4 kills. She would go 4-for-7 throughout the set with
Sonia Flendrich and
Sophie Ball tallying three each. CU would hold TMU to a -.050 hitting percentage taking set one 25-17.
Set two brought the same result in the favor of the Lady Tigers. Campbellsville would come out red hot and remain steady finishing with a hitting percentage of .286. The freshman
Cierra Merrick carried the load in set two, racking up six kills in the frame. Merrick started three of Campbellsville's big runs to cap off the set.
Set three went back-and-forth sitting at 9-9. The Lady Tigers would go on a 7-0 run moving the score to 16-9.
Cierra Merrick served an ace,
Molly Shannon would power home a kill, and the setter would swing picking up a kill. The Saints would quickly answer back with a 9-2 run of their own, tying the set at 18. The Lady Tigers' last run would cap of a 3-0 sweep of the Saints of Thomas More, 25-20.
