Lady Tigers bounce back for Coach Colvin’s 400th win

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tigers rallied against University of Tennessee Southern in an evening match at Powell Athletic Center. Campbellsville defeated the Firehawks 91-68 and head coach Ginger High Colvin reached 400 wins.

The Lady Tigers began the game with intensity and a Lexy Lake three-point basket. Campbellsville opted for a full-court press against the Firehawks. The Lady Tigers ran with the fervor they had built to ensure an eight-point run. Campbellsville took advantage of the undefended post for a set of buckets. Maddy Boyle and Sarah Sutton's consecutive baskets from the arc propelled the Lady Tigers to a ten-point lead. The first quarter ended with a 26-18 score.

UT Southern scratched at the deficit early in the second period. In response, Sutton appeared at the free throw line a pair of times knocking down all four attempts. The Lady Tiger's defense began to heighten as Courtney Pritchett's steal led to a Lauren Lee fast break layup. Lee went on to score two more baskets for her team shortly thereafter and Pritchett's shot from the perimeter set the score at 45-39 in Campbellsville's favor to end the half.

Sutton and Pritchett led the team with nine points each and Lee followed with eight points. Campbellsville totaled 14 assists in the first half alone. Lee incorporated five assists to the total.

To begin the third, Ashlee McGeorge hit back-to-back layups. The Lady Tigers capitalized off quick buckets in the paint and a couple of charity shots to extend the game to its largest lead of 11 points. That mark came from a Lee layup with 2:35 left in the third. Boyle then hit her first three of the quarter advancing Campbellsville's lead to 12 points. The Lady Tigers didn't stop there as the Lake sisters progressed the lead to 18 points. The quarter closed 68-50.

Campbellsville gained momentum from their largest lead and only increased the deficit over Firehawks in the fourth. Kaitlynn Wilks started early with an and-one. Then, moments later, Wilks had another layup for the Lady Tigers establishing a 28-point lead. Campbellsville's accumulation of baskets cemented a 91-68 victory over UT Southern.

Wilks earned a season-high with 15 points and her teammate Lee totaled 15 points as well. The Lady Tigers tallied 35 team rebounds. Shyla Calbert also earned a season-high with six rebounds. Pritchett collected seven rebounds and Wilks followed with six. The team's average assists stood at 19.9 and the Lady Tigers accomplished 26 assists in tonight's match.
