Lady Tigers come away with three wins and earn runner-up at NWCA National Duals Friday afternoon

LOUISVILLE, KY. – Lady Tigers were able to win three matches as they finish up the NWCA National Duals as the runner-up after day two of competition concluded Friday afternoon.

Campbellsville was able to breeze through their first two matches on Thursday winning 46-2 over Missouri Valley College and 45-2 over Indiana Tech. Lady Tigers saw three tech falls and ten falls to win and move onto the championship bracket into day two.

Friday morning, Coach Lee Miracles squad saw their first test with a tough Grand View University team. They were able to get the win at 26-18. Liliana Vergara secured the team win to move onto the championship final with her pin at the 1:05 mark in the first period.

Emma Walker was the only Lady Tiger to turn all four dual matches into four individual wins on the weekend. Kelsey Bilz, McKayla Campbell, and Jacqueline Ghent were close behind Walker collecting three wins in the duals.

In the championship match Friday afternoon it was everything sports fans want to see, the top two teams in the country facing off when Campbellsville met Life University in the finals. Mia Diaz, Katlyn Pizzo, and Walker all picked up wins with bonus points to help Campbellsville put themselves in a position for a potential win at the end.

In typical sports fashion the dual came down to the final match with a match of Gabrielle Hamilton and Vergara for the title. Hamilton was able to recover from a mid-match scare to defeat Vergara in the final with :25 seconds left on the clock to win the dual over Campbellsville 25-19.

Lady Tigers are set to jump back into action Saturday January 15th, when they host the Campbellsville duals on campus. Those matches will be held in the wrestling facility.
