CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Tigers took the field tonight in a match against #14 University of the Cumberlands. CU came into this game looking to get .500 in conference play. The Tigers were able to just that, as they fought off an aggressive patriot attack, 1-0.
The first half was quiet and a defensive battle between the two teams. Even though the score stayed nil-nil, the Patriots dominated pitch control as the Tigers were only able to get one shot on goal coming from
Sebastiano Musu. The Patriots mustered 5 shots on goalkeeper
Christian Hauge. Hauge saved all 5 of those on frame. The Tigers had also taken 5 shots and had 6 fouls going into halftime.
The second half continued with the patriots coming out in a dominating mindset to control the pitch and play the match dictated by them. Campbellsville was still struggling to get any good looks on the goal and even despite a few aggressive attacks. The tides would soon shift in the Tigers favor, as just their second shot on goal managed to slip right past the goalkeeper. The goal came from none other than
Sebastiano Musu. Musu would get some help on the goal as James Feely would be credited with the assist. The Tigers would go on to secure the match and withstand a late push by the Patriot attack. It was also a masterclass performance from
Christian Hauge who managed to save 10 shots.
The Tigers will look to extend their winning streak to 3 in a row on October 18
th, as they welcome conference opponent Freed-Hardeman University to campus. Coverage for the men's match will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's match. Coverage for both will be located on campbellsvilletigers.com/watch.
