CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. –– The Campbellsville University Tigers hosted Freed-Hardeman University Tuesday night. Campbellsville defeated the Lions in a 5-0 shutout.
Campbellsville took initiative to make offensive advances first. The Tigers had taken six shots at the opposing goal before Freed-Hardman had made their own move. Coming off sweeping MSC, NCCAA, and NAIA Player of the Week, Christian Hauge had a quiet night in the net for the Tigers. The Tigers made an appearance on the board as Sebastiano Musu scored the game-winning goal with an assist from Gustav Oskarsson. Moments later, defender Marc Boye tallied a goal from Samuel Londono's assist. Less than two minutes later, Yuso Kojima put Campbellsville ahead 3-0 with his solo shot toward the net.
At the half, Campbellsville displayed their desire for the win. The Tigers had taken 19 shots compared to the Lions' one shot. Boye's position as a defender doesn't allow for many offensive opportunities. Boye's goal was marked as his third goal in his career.
Campbellsville continued being an offensive powerhouse into the second half. At the 55th minute, Guillermo Ferreiro scored another goal to further the Lions' deficit. Nico Lanari scored the final goal as he was assisted by Phillipe Berger to put Campbellsville ahead 5-0.
By game's end, Campbellsville had taken 32 shots compared to Freed-Hardeman's four shots. Hauge and Joshua Quigley were the Tiger goalkeepers who had tallied the two saves of the match.
Campbellsville will have their final homestand of the season on Friday October 21st when they host (RV) Bethel University for an 8 p.m. ET matchup.
