CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Fighting Tiger football team stepped into Finley Stadium for a final home competition of the 2022 regular season.
Campbellsville started strong with a 53-yard run off the kickoff return. Jager Gillis completed a few passes to lead the Tigers to the 28-yard line.
Devin Neally completed a field goal to put the Tigers on the board first. Georgetown combatted their deficit with a touchdown in their next drive. DeAgo Brumfield intercepted a pass made by Georgetown and returned 80-yards. Georgetown was not going to let the Tigers off easy as they acquire another touchdown before the first quarter ended.
The second quarter opened with a swift touchdown by Georgetown. Once Campbellsville attempted to scratch back at their deficit, their drive ended in an interception turned touchdown for Georgetown. Campbellsville found themselves scrapping for points as they turned to a field goal to decrease their discrepancy. However, Georgetown doubled back for another touchdown to increase the Tiger deficit to 20 points. The half ended in a score of 35-13.
At the half, Campbellsville had only collected seven first downs compared to Georgetown's 15. The Georgetown Tigers averaged 7.3 yards per play in comparison to the Campbellsville Tigers' 2.6 yards per play. In average gain per rush, Georgetown also led 8 gain per rush to Campbellsville's -2.3 gain per rush.
As the third quarter rolled around, the Tigers suffered a lengthy shortfall. Anton Fant collected himself an interception in the third drive of the quarter, but Georgetown retaliated as they ended Campbellsville' possession with a safety. Georgetown added on their lead with another touchdown following the safety. Campbellsville seemed unable to break through their opponents' defense.
Entering the final quarter, Georgetown increased their lead yet again. Georgetown continued to rack up the touchdowns. Campbellsville did not score since their field goal in the second quarter. The Tigers completed the game in a 65-13 loss.
The Tigers will compete to end regular season at the University of the Cumberlands with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff slate.
