ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Esports team started their season by competing in the Esports Festival hosted by Unified Esports last weekend.
The Smash team trio would compete in the 50-player tournament made up of players from schools all around the country. Jeffery Short climbed through the bracket playing Pyra/Mythra, finishing in 9th place. Dalton Keem ended his run in 13th place. Keem would use a mixture of King K. Rool and Steve to find a Top-15 finish. Jaime Araujo Saenz placed 25th using R.O.B.
The League of Legends squad was also in action competing in their first LAN event. They would end the event with a 1-2 record, picking up a win over St. Louis's University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy and losing against Drury University and Illinois College. CU would end the tournament placing higher than they were seeded coming in. This group was made up of Jameson Johnson, Ashton Paiz, Truss Sriwilai, Jaksaphong Ratnawahirarn, and Yutthapichai Yeangyutthapichai. Sriwilai tallied 34 kills in the three matches placing 3rd overall in most eliminations. Yeangyutthapichai reached 5th overall for the most vision points.
The Esports team is back in action this week as multiple teams hit the Arena for competition.
