CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.–– A back and forth match ended in favor of Shawnee State after a goal in the 89th minute.
In the first half of play both teams took two shots apiece until the Bears acquired the first goal of the competition. Shawnee took a swift shot that was saved by Christian Hauge, but Hauge was unable to recover quickly enough to save their second attempt on the rebound. In the 33rd minute Campbellsville evened the score with a goal of their own. Jamie Bird passed the ball to Nathan Schmidli for the tie score. Three minutes later the Tigers gained the lead with a shot taken by Samuel Londono.
At the half, both teams are seeking opportunity to score. Hauge had tallied three saves by the half out of the four shots on goal. Shawnee State had gained four corner shots compared to Campbellsville's two corners. Goals by Schmidli and Londono allowed the Tigers to lead entering the second half.
Shawnee State evened the score with a goal in the 51st minute. Campbellsville had only taken two shots since the Bears' goal. Shawnee State regained the lead with a goal in the 67th minute. Late in match play, Jamie Bird crossed in a free kick and Harry Freeman seized the opportunity to head the ball in. Freeman's goal tied the match at 3-3. Only a minute later, Shawnee State stole the lead 4-3 to win the match.
The Tigers will travel to Pikeville, Ky in pursuit of the Bears. The match is set for October 12th and will begin at 8 P.M ET.
