Lady Tigers hold Lady Lions to 39% from the field on the way to 22-point win

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The #3 ranked Lady Tigers came into the Mid-South match-up against the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions look to extend their winning streak to begin the season. That run would go from five straight games to six with their convincing defensive effort over the Lady Lions.

The Lady Tigers opened up the first quarter against the Lady Lions with a three-point lead. Campbellsville continued their well-rounded team play by advancing their advantage up to seven with a minute left in the quarter. At the end of the first, the Lions cut the lead back to five with a score of 16-11. The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Courtney Pritchett with six points heading into the second period.

The second quarter started with both teams trading buckets and the Lady Tigers going back up by seven midway through. Both defenses were battling it out between each other. Neither team was able to get a great look at any shots. Campbellsville was finally able to open up the scoring and elude the tight defense they had been facing most of the game after a big Sarah Sutton three-pointer put the Lady Tigers up 14. Freed-Hardeman sank a three-pointer to go before the halftime buzzer sounded, which moved the score to just an 11-point Tiger lead.

Sutton led the Tigers in scoring with eight at the end of the first half. Campbellsville managed to shoot 11-27 (40.7%) and 4-11 from behind the arc. The Lady Tigers found their groove at the end of the half and started knocking down some shots before going into the locker room. On the other side of the ball, Campbellsville managed to hold the Freed-Hardeman to just 9-28 (32%) shooting and forced 11 turnovers with the high motor press that the Last Tigers engaged.

Campbellsville led into the third quarter with a lot of the momentum they built up at the end of the second quarter. The Lady Tigers jumped in and went on a 10-2 run pushing the score to 44-25. The Lady Lions started to knock down some shots; however, the Lady Tigers proved too much. Freed-Hardeman trailed by 17 at the end of the quarter, scoring 54-37.

Freed-Hardeman came out in the fourth outscoring the Lady Tigers by one through the first four minutes. Campbellsville didn't sit back long as they jumped back into a run-scoring six straight on the Lady Lions. Campbellsville continued to play dominant on the defensive side of the ball, not allowing Freed-Hardeman many open looks at all. The Lady Tigers got another conference win after beating the Lions in a dominant fashion with a 75-53 victory for Campbellsville.

Three Lady Tigers were in double digits: Maddy Boyle with 14 points, Sutton with 11 points, and Kaitlynn Wilks with 10 points. Campbellsville played a great all-around game with 33 boards and 20 assists. They also shot a solid clip going 42.6% from the field and 39.1% from behind the arc. Defensively, The Lady Tigers caused 18 turnovers (with 13 steals as a team) on top three blocks as well. Campbellsville also held the Lions to just 39% shooting and 25% from the three-point line.

The Lady Tigers will look forward to their subsequent game against Bethel University on December 3rd at 1 p.m. ET at home.
