The Lady Tigers' second half offense propels them over Shawnee

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The #3 Lady Tigers looked to extend their winning streak to 11 in a home match-up against conference foe the Shawnee State Bears. The result was a 19-point Campbellsville victory.

The quarter opened with Courtney Pritchett netting a three-point shot. The first lead change in the game came from the Bears gaining the advantage halfway through the half, going up 7-6. The two teams kept going back and forth, with the lead changing hands three times in two minutes. Finally, the Lady Tigers went back into the driver's seat with 4 minutes left in the quarter, going up 10-9. Campbellsville put together a 9-2 run that put them up seven. Shawnee State cut the lead back to four at the end of the quarter. Pritchett and Lauren Lee led the way for the Lady Tigers with six points a piece.

Campbellsville and Shawnee State started the first half trading shots, but the Lady Tigers managed to sustain their four-point buffer. The Bears evened things at 21 with seven minutes left in the quarter. Then, right after, the Bears took the lead after an easy two-point shot in the paint. The Lady Tigers' defensive troubles continued as they attempted to contain Shawnee State. The Bears had their biggest lead of the game at six, up 27-21 with five minutes left in the quarter. The Lady Tigers curated a run in response, with six points tying the game. Campbellsville continued their sprint to the half and finished the first twenty minutes firmly in the lead at 38-29.

Lee led the Lady Tigers in the first half with nine points. The Campbellsville offense was below their season average in field goal percentage, going 14 of 30 from the field. In true fashion, though, they assisted on 12 of those 14 buckets showing fantastic team basketball. The Lady Tigers also stayed active on defense with ten forced turnovers and four steals.

Both teams opened the second half slowly, with the two squads scoring just two points for the first five minutes before Campbellsville exploded on another run. Going on a 17-8 run over the next few minutes of the half put the Lady Tigers up by 15. Sarah Sutton began raining threes, and Shawnee State couldn't keep up.

The fourth quarter proved that Campbellsville would continue their separation as they steadily increased their advantage. The Lady Tigers played steady throughout the quarter with the game in hand. Campbellsville won the game 79-60, giving the Lady Tigers win number 11 on the year and extending their winning streak to that many straight.

Campbellsville had four double-digit players: Sutton with 20, Pritchett with 15, Lee with 13, and Elizabeth Bertram with 12. The Lady Tigers finished the game shooting 28-62 and 13-31 from deep. Defensively, the Tigers kept active hands with seven steals on the game and ended the Bears' possessions with their 27 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers will have their next game on December 22nd against Miami University Hamilton at Powell Athletic Center in Campbellsville. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. ET.
