COLUMBIA, Ky. - The #4
Campbellsville University women's basketball traveled to Lindsey Wilson College to compete against the Blue Raiders. The Lady Tigers emerged victorious 57-48.
To begin the match,
Maddy Boyle's set of free throws put the Lady Tigers in the lead. Lindsey Wilson evened the score at 6-6 but Boyle's three-pointer put Campbellsville up by three. After a few scoreless possessions, the Blue Raiders jumped out on the Lady Tigers 12-9 to end the first quarter. Campbellsville went 2-12 in field goals and a 1-4 at the perimeter within the first. The Blue Raiders were besting the Tigers in both areas.
Two and a half minutes into the second quarter,
Lauren Lee countered a three delivered from Lindsey with her own shot from the arc.
Ashlee McGeorge's two free throws tied the score at 15-15. Both team's displayed tough defense and neither team scored for four minutes until the Blue Raiders put up a layup.
Courtney Pritchett responded with a bucket from the perimeter.
Sarah Sutton collected five points in back-to-back possessions to lead Lindsey by four points. However, a Blue Raider three-point basket set the score at 23-22 with the Lady Tigers leading by one.
At the half, the Lady Tigers were shooting a 29.2 percent from the field goal, a 44.4 percent at the arc, and a 100 percent at the stripe. Their competitors were only outshooting them at the field by .8 percent and in no other area. However, Campbellsville had been forced into seven turnovers compared to the two of Lindsey Wilson's.
Faith Lake appeared at the free throw line 57 seconds into the third quarter. Her two shots put the Lady Tigers in the lead by two. Lindsey Wilson evened the score at 27, but a three from
Shyla Calbert placed Campbellsville on top in return. Pritchett's five-point run put the Lady Tigers ahead by four, tying with the largest lead of the game. Lindsey displayed their stamina as they evened the score again at 35. Pritchett's pair of charity shots ended the third quarter with Campbellsville leading 41-37.
The final quarter began with a big bucket from Lindsey Wilson. McGeorge appeared at the stripe twice to have the Lady Tigers lead by four points. Sutton delivered a bucket from deep that propelled her team to a seven-point lead. Campbellsville drew fouls and hit free throws to maintain the lead they had established. The Lady Tigers earned their largest lead of the game at nine-points with two free throws from Pritchett. Campbellsville won the match 57-48 and continue the season with a 19-3 record.
Campbellsville finished the night with improved shooting as well as beating Lindsey in all shooting categories. McGeorge completed the contest with a double-double consisting of ten points and 13 rebounds. Pritchett was close behind as she finished the night with 16 points and nine rebounds. Lee tallied nine points and five rebounds.
The Lady Tigers are to host this Saturday against Cumberland University. The contest will begin at 2 p.m. ET.
