CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – It was a jam-packed week on spring break for the Tiger Esports competitors.
The Rocket League trio would be busy with two matches in the Aces League and one in Mid-South Conference competition. They would start out fast but couldn't hold the pace in their first meeting with Benedictine University. The Tigers would take game one 7-3, then drop the next two 3-2, 3-2. Playing for CU was Simon Coy who tallied six goals, four assists, five saves, and 12 shots; good enough for a 1,912 total score. Nate Sampson would score three goals with one assist, four saves, and seven shots for a 1,156 total. McQueary would round out the group with two goals, four assists, six saves, and five shots, totaling 1,192 points.
Campbellsville would get back to their winning ways in their second matchup with Misericordia University. The Tigers would sweep the match with scores of 4-0, 2-1, and 3-2. Coy would go for three goals, one assist, four saves, and 10 shots for a 1,168 total score. Sampson would end with five goals, two assists, one save, 12 shots, and a total score of 1,228. McQueary wrapped up the matchup with one assist, three saves, and two shots. Good for a total score of 478.
In the final matchup of the week, the Tigers would meet Bethel in Mid-South Conference action. CU ran away with the sweep, earning a 3-1, 6-0, and 3-1 result. Coy would have a great three games with three goals, four assists, five saves, and 11 shots for 1,257 total score. Sampson stayed consistent with his four goals, one assist, two saves, and 11 shots, equaling a total score of 1,107. McQueary tallied four goals, three assists, eight shots, and a total score of 1,217.
The Smash Varsity and the Academy groups were in play this week. First up was the varsity team meeting Bethel University in the Mid-South Conference. Darrel Dick, playing Mewtwo, put on a show taking six stocks, knocking out two of their opponents. Jeffery Short would wrap up the match as Pyra/Mythra taking the last three stock. Dalton Kehm would not be needed as CU would only use two of their three available.
The next matchup was against the #1 seeded Shawnee State University A. This would be the last matchup before the playoffs started. The Tigers would make it a tough bout just falling short by one stock. This result would solidify CU as the 3-seed entering the playoffs. Kehm playing a King K. Rool would take three stocks. Short selecting Palutena stole four stocks. Dick would round out the Tigers with two stocks taken.
The Tigers academy had a bout with Shawnee State University B. CU was able to take the matchup over the bears. Zachary Brady playing Wolf took two stocks. Timothy Terrel selecting R.O.B. took three stocks. John Luke Roberts as Young Link put on a show with four stocks taken.
The last match of the week was against Coastal Carolina University in the NACE Fall Cup. The Tigers would fall just short losing by one stock. Short picking Zelda took four stocks. Araujo Saenz was R.O.B. ending with three stocks taken. Roberts selected Young Link and took three stocks. Lastly was Bradley choosing Wolf, who ended with one stock taken.
