CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY – The Tigers made a game one statement with a walkoff final score of 5-4 over Cumberlands.
Tigers would start the game getting three quick outs against the Patriots; Two would strike out and another would hit a pop ball towards right field for an easy catch.
Samio Uze would hit first in the bottom of the first with a ground ball towards first base in a close run as the Patriots left first wide open. Uze would steal second off of a wild pitch before
Jorge Gonzalez got to first. The Tigers would lead 2-0 after the first.
Zion Payne would hit the batter on the first pitch of the second inning and give him a free base. The Patriots would hit a low ball down right field to get a runner on first and third. One hitter would ball out to make the bases loaded for the Patriots.
The Patriots hit a triple to far right field just over the foul line and sent those three runners home making the score 2-4 Patriots. The Tigers would soon get the last two outs to end the inning. The bottom of the second would go quick for the Tigers as one of them got hit and the other three would send balls outfield.
Tigers would fail to get the ball to first quick enough as the Patriots got one on first for the top of the seventh. The Tigers would not let that get to them as they would get a double play the following at bat. The Tigers then went to strike out the last pitcher going into the bottom of the seventh. J. Gonzalez would walk after too many balls got too close to him to start the bottom of the inning.
Gonzalez stole second after a dropped ball by the catcher. Amenta singled up the middle to get Gonzalez home but Amenta got out at second in the process.
Sam Fagerness struck out swinging just before Casteneda would slam a ball out of HIG field to tie the score 4-4. White would pop one up to second base to end the inning.
J. Gonzalez hit a bouncer towards shortstop which was overthrown to first and he reached second off of this error. Amenta and White were intentionally walked to try and force every ball home. Castaneda sent a grounder to left field with bases loaded and reached first off of a fielder's choice, allowing Gonzalez to score winning the game 5-4.
The Tiger's next game is tomorrow at HIG field in Campbellsville, KY vs the University of the Cumberlands for the next two games of the series. Game times are at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM ET.
