LEXINGTON, KY – PR's and season bests led the way for the Tigers final meet before the Mid-South Conference Championships at the Kentucky Invitational over the weekend.
Campbellsville couldn't have asked for better weather in the bluegrass state over the past few days. The jumps unit has continued to be one of the best in the country, and it continued that standard at Kentucky.
CamRon Hamby walked away with a season best in the long jump with a distance of 6.78m and the victory.
Corey Smith wasn't far behind Hamby with his third place finish mark of 6.47m. Smith and Hamby traded spots in the triple jump. Smith was the runner-up in the event with a mark of 14.32m, which is .03m off of an NAIA standard. Hamby was the bronze medal finisher with a mark of 14.21m.
Senior
Brevon Whitney was able to finish near the top of the standings with a sixth place performance of 13.53m in the event. Hamby and
Barrye Trotter were able to tie for sixth place overall in the high jump with the pair hitting a height of 1.80m.
Cainan Daniels rounded out to scoring for the Tigers in jumps with his eighth place finish in the pole vault at 3.07m.
The 4x100m relay had themselves a season best with
Darionta Bell,
Elijah Moore,
Jackson Harrell, and
Jaron Hamby on the team with a runner-up time of 42.17.
In the 100m, Campbellsville put four athletes in the top 20 of the race.
Chance Lucas led the group finishing 11
th overall at 11.15, Bell was 13
th with a time of 11.17, Moore was 14
th at 11.18, and Harrell came in 18
th in the event at 11.33.
Harrell was the top finisher for the Tigers in the 200m with a best time of 21.87 with a (+2.4) wind. In the 400m,
Maikyah Stowe saw his best time since the indoor season with an eighth place finish of 50.74 in the event. Trotter was ninth behind Stowe at 51.19 in the 400m while
Kobie Neal and
Isaiah Harris were 10
th and 13
thwith times of 52.07 for Neal and 52.90 for Harris.
Sam Kiser and
Aiden Tucker were tightly knitted in the 800m run. Kiser finishing in eighth position overall with a season best 1:54.40 while Tucker setting a lifetime best with an 11
th place finish of 1:55.16.
Zahnte' Brown and Harris led the way in the hurdles on the day. Brown placed eighth in the 110m hurdles at 17.09 while Harris was seventh overall in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.94.
Seth Cartwright brought in an eighth place finish in the shot put at 13.19m. Cartwright was also able to jump position in the javelin with a fourth place finishing mark of 40.72m.
Jarrett Crawford finished just ahead of Cartwright in third overall at 41.01m.
The Tigers will now prepare for the Mid-South Conference Championships May 1-2 in Williamsburg, KY.
