CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Rocket League and Smash teams have both competed twice over the last two weeks.
The Rocket League trio squared off with Shawnee State B. This four-game series would lean in the favor of CU, three games to one. The Tigers would win game one 3-2, game two 3-2, and game four 3-0. SSU would walk away with a game three, 4-3 outcome. Simon Coy would go for two goals, four assists, two saves, and nine shots for a total score of 1,106. Nate Sampson scored three goals, one assists, eight saves, and five shots equaling a 1,324 total score. McQueary tallied the highest total score with 1,783. This was from seven goals, three assists, five saves, and 12 shots.
The three would be back in action in the Aces Colligate League vs. Western Michigan, the 2nd seed in the league. The Tigers would fall short in all three games: 5-2, 5-0 and 5-1. Coy would lead the team score with 1,157. He scored one goal, had eight saves, and three shots. Sampson would follow with a score over 1,000. This tallied from one goal, one assist, eight saves, and six shots. McQueary was good for one goal, one assist, two saves, and one shot.
Up next was the Smash team. They would face off with Western Colorado in the Aces Collegiate League. The Tigers would end up victorious over WCU. CU would only have to use four of their five available competitors. John Luke Roberts playing Young Link, took two stocks. Darrel Dick selecting Pac-Man, took five big stocks. Dalton Kehm would put on a show with King K. Rool, taking out six stocks. Timothy Terrel would wrap it up as R.O.B., taking two stocks.
CU would have another match inside of Aces competition meeting the undefeated Shockers of Wichita State University. They would have an uphill battle trying to shock the unbeaten WSU. Campbellsville would fight back and finish off the upset by one stock, giving WSU their first loss of the season. With this victory, the Tigers move up to 3rd in the overall standings. Araujo Saenz playing R.O.B., took two stocks. Kehm per usual, was able to steal five stocks as King K. Rool. Jeffery Short selecting Palutena had two stocks taken. Dick as Pac-Man went above to rip 4 stocks away. Terrel as R.O.B. would take two stocks as well.
