BOWLING GREEN, KY. – The Tigers flipped the momentum as McCann shuts the door on Cumberland University to advance in the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
The Phoenix would start out steady from the first pitch. They used a leadoff double, a wild pitch, and a sac fly to plate the run. CU would add another run in the second after pairing two hits in the frame.
Campbellsville would start to gather some momentum in the home half of the third inning. A leadoff HBP, followed by a single, would paint the scene. The Tigers would run themselves into a double play, killing the build-up. Campbellsville trailed 2-0 after three.
The Phoenix offense carried on with a one-out homer. They would then add two more in the top of the 5
th. Cumberland tallied five runs and six hits through five innings.
The Tigers would scratch back using free bases to their advantage. A hit by pitch, a
Samio Uze single, and a walk; would load the bases.
Noah Amenta would put the ball in play forcing an error, plating the first Campbellsville run.
Jacob White would reach on a fielder's choice, driving in Uze for his 24
th RBI on the year.
Alex Castaneda would spark another opportunity for CU with a 2-out single.
Kale Seitz put a ball in play and the Phoenix would throw it into right field. Castaneda showed great speed as he raced around third and beat the throw home.
When your team is producing runs, you want your pitcher to get you back to the bat rack. That's exactly what
Chad McCann would do in his second inning of work. He would produce back-to-back strikeouts, followed by a groundout.
Jorge Gonzalez would start the 7
th off in a hurry. A well struck ball hit off the top of the wall in right center. The speedster would race into third for his 3
rd triple of the season.
Noah Amenta showed great execution with a ground ball on the right side of the infield, scoring Gonzalez.
McCann would keep the Tigers rolling in the Top of the 8
th striking out the side. This would be his fifth, sixth, and seventh punchout of the night.
The red-hot Tigers would load the bases with one out. Gonzalez would deliver another blow with a two-RBI single into left field.
Logan Verble and Castaneda would cross the plate. Amenta got hit by a pitch to juice the bases.
Jacob White earned a sac-fly into right field as Uze slid past the catcher at home. Campbellsville captured their first lead and led 7-5 after eight.

Chad McCann would slam the door shut as the Tiger magic lives to see another day. McCann would go four innings in relief, giving up two hits and punching out eight.
Uze, Gonzalez, and Castaneda would combine for seven of the nine Tiger hits. Gonzalez and White each drove in two runs. Uze and Castaneda both scored twice. Campbellsville improves to 25-23 and lives to see another day. They meet Freed-Hardeman tomorrow at 2 p.m. ET in the bottom half of the bracket.
