COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Tigers had an exciting weekend for their first tournament of the 2022-23 year in the Welcome Back Tournament.
Andrew McWhorter took home individual gold while the team were bronze in third.
McWhorter made the All-Tournament Team and finished first in total pinfall and Average through six games. He ended up going plus 220 for the nine single games they bowled with a high game of 279 which came from the first game of the tournament. McWhorter would continue his dominance throughout the tournament only shooting one game below a 200: a 189. McWhorter finished in a 40-pin lead from the second-place bowler in ATT.
The men's team finished third out of 8 competitors with a total of 8,668 for nine single games. They were 340 pins away from second-place finishing team Midway college, but 200 pins above fourth-place team Rio Grande. Notable other contributors this weekend was
Ambrose Shirk with multiple 220+ games and
Zachary Budd averaging 203 for six games bowled.
The Tigers will follow up this past weekend with their first Mid-South Conference Tournament of the year on Saturday, The MSC Baker Bash in Richmond, Kentucky. Their squad starts at 1:30pm ET and you can pre-purchase tickets for the event here:
