PULASKI, Tenn. – The Campbellsville Tigers (2-1-1, 0-0-1 MSC) traveled to the University of Tennessee Southern (6-1, 1-0 MSC) to take on the Firehawks Saturday evening. Campbellsville came into this game 2-1-1 with their last match ending in a draw against Cumberland University. The Tigers lost the match 4-1 avoiding the shutout with a last-minute goal.
Through the first 30 minutes of action both teams were gridlocked into a defensive battle. In minute 30 that changed as Tennesse Southern slid a shot by
Christian Hauge which put the Firehawks up 1-0. Tennessee Southern came back downfield in the 36
th minute to score again which allowed the Firehawks to lead 2-0. This goal followed a foul and a very lengthy attack from Tennessee Southern. The Firehawks finished the half still holding the Tigers to no scores on the match.
Tennessee Southern began the second half adding to their lead in 52
nd minute. The Firehawks continued to dominate the field as they defensively pressed the Tigers leading to another goal. After a few stoppages in play, the Tigers were able to get some relief as
Sebastiano Musu lined up for the penalty kick. Musu's shot hit the top right corner and put the Tigers on the board in the 86
th minute. Unfortunately, the Tigers' night ended to the tune of 4-1.
