MARIETTA, GA. – The Tigers were able to recover from their season opener to win against Life University 3-1 in their second match in Georgia this afternoon.
Both teams were trading points early in the match. The first set came down to the wire between the teams, and the Tigers won the set 26-24. In the first set, Campbellsville had 12 kills against Life's ten.
The energy continued into the second set. This set came down to the final two points for the Tigers, and they won 32-20. Campbellsville totaled 16 kills for the second set versus the 13 from Life. The Tigers had a .286 hitting percentage over the Eagles' .098.
In set three, the match shifted in Life's favor. Campbellsville acquired only four kills this set and dipped into a negative hitting percentage. However, the Tigers weren't done yet and battled for the fourth set. Campbellsville took over and won the final set 25-17.
The Eagles had 12 aces, while the Tigers had seven. Campbellsville tallied 41 assists and 49 digs for the match.
Jakob Zum Kolk finished with 13 kills and nine digs,
John-Marcos Gonzalez had 11 kills and five aces, and
JoVeaun Banks totaled seven kills and four blocks.
The Tigers will be back in action Sunday, January 29th, at Fort Valley State University. The match starts at 4 PM est.
