Tigers battle to hard-fought draw against #11 Bethel

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Campbellsville Tigers took on the #11 Bethel Wildcats on Friday night. The match-up was a physical battle that ended scoreless, resulting in a tie.

From the start of the match it became physical on both sides of the ball. Sophomore Christian Hauge kept the net clear throughout the night with 21 shots from the Wildcats, while only four were on frame. In the first half, the Wildcats pressed the attack with six shots on Hauge. 

The Tigers kept consistency throughout the course of the match pressing the attack while getting back on defense. The defense held their leading scorers in Gregory Cousins, Stanley Isaac, and Hubert Oduya Kompany to only seven of the Wildcats 21 shots. 

Campbellsville recorded seven shots with three on frame. Zeezo Cassim gave the team two shots while Marc Boye, Jamie Bird, and Mihlali Blesi all had the Tigers three shots on frame.

The biggest story of the night was the physicality of the match. A total of 18 fouls between the teams, Campbellsville only recording seven of the 18 fouls. Four total yellow cards were given in the match. 

The final result gives the Wildcats their first draw of the season while Campbellsville moves to 10-4-3. 

The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday, October 26th, to take on Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee. The match is set to begin at 8 p.m. ET. They will return home for the regular season finale on Monday, October 30th against Georgetown College for senior night at 8 p.m. ET.
