Four different relay events earn runner-up, Campbellsville places 3rd at Igloo Invitational

SEWANEE, TN – The Tigers walked away from Sewanee with a 3rd place finish at the Igloo Invitational over the weekend, with multiple school records being broken in the process.

The 200-yard freestyle relay was the first top-five finish for the Tigers over the weekend. Marlien Crewe-Brown, Ellie Eisses, Hannah Rhodenbaugh, and Charlotte Stull came in at 1:46.38, less than four seconds behind the school record. In the 200-yard IM, Campbellsville stacked up three athletes in the top-five. Crewe-Brown was the runner-up in 2:19.81, Rhodenbaugh was 4th in 2:23.27, and Chloe Little rounded out the group in 5th at 2:27.60.

The 500-yard freestyle gave Campbellsville another individual runner-up finish on the weekend. Stull finished in 5:35.82 while holding a 3.35 split spread. Taryn Harper was 5th overall, just ten seconds behind in 5:45.15 with her split spread of 5.56 seconds.

Crewe-Brown took down April Hill's 100-yard breaststroke school record that has stood since the 2012-13 season. She has been close to the record all season and beat it over the weekend. She won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.94. Little earned the bronze in the event in 1:12.36. Stull earned a 4th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with her time of 2:21.52.

Outside of the 200-yard relay, Campbellsville had four other relays earn runner-up on the weekend. In the 400-yard medley relay, Rhodenbaugh, Harper, Crewe-Brown, and Stull finished 2nd in 4:19.59. For the 800-yard freestyle relay Crewe-Brown, Rhodenbaugh, Harper, and Stull touched the wall in 8:36.75. In the 200-yard medley relay, Rhodenbaugh, Stull, Crewe-Brown, and Harper were 1:57.62. The final relay that earned runner-up was the 400-yard freestyle relay. Stull, Eisses, Crewe-Brown, and Rhodenbaugh finished off the stellar relay performances with a time of 3:53.85.

Crewe-Brown saw her second school record of the day fall, this time being her own record. She bested her 200-yard breaststroke record by over two seconds with a 2:31.74 while pulling off the victory in the process. Little was 4th in 2:41.32 in the event.

The final two key events of the weekend for Campbellsville came from the 200-yard freestyle and the 1650-yard freestyle. In the 200, Stull finished 4th in 2:06.80 while Harper was close behind in 5th at 2:07.88. Harper competed in the 1650, placing 5th overall in 20:23.04. Harper kept a spread of 7.01 seconds throughout the event.

As a team, the Tigers finished with 467 points placing third overall.

Campbellsville will have the next two weekends off before returning to the pool on Saturday, December 9th, when they travel to Shawnee State. After that meet, the Tigers will return in 2024 for three more regular season meets before the Mid-South Conference Championships.
