MCKENZIE, Tenn. – To conclude their stint at Bethel University, the Lady Tigers took on Fisk University out of Nashville. The Lady Bulldogs were never ahead in the game as Campbellsville's efficient offense took off out of the gate and never looked back, 96-61.
Campbellsville took a ten-point lead with 4:20 left in the first. The pressing Lady Tiger defense forced the Lady Bulldogs to cough up the ball 12 times. Fisk was jumping in front of driving lanes, drawing charges, and forcing turnovers too. Nonetheless, the Lady Tigers shot a blistering 69% in the opening quarter and had seven team assists. Just as their first game the day prior in the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Classic, the Campbellsville bench came in ready to contribute, combining for 13 points and playing a vital part in their 15-point advantage headed into the second period.
Period two saw the Lady Tigers outscore the Lady Bulldogs by 23, holding Fisk to just four points in the ten minutes. Campbellsville continued their capitalization from turnovers (20 points off them) and their predilections for driving or finding their post players (12 points in the paint). The Lady Tigers were using their physicality too, getting to the line ten times in the period and converting nine of those opportunities.
At halftime, the Lady Tigers were ahead 49-11, keeping the Lady Bulldogs to just 20% shooting and forcing Fisk into 26 turnovers.
Maddy Boyle, in just eight minutes, was perfect from the field at that point, including two-for-two from three, for ten points.
Lauren Lee paced the team with her four assists, while also doing so defensively with her three steals.
The second half saw Campbellsville maintain their significant lead with continued efficiency and thoughtful play with the game coming to an eventual close, 96-61.
Whitney Hay, the junior transfer from Belmont University, paced the team with her 17 points while also posting five rebounds to lead the squad, and Lee ended with seven assists.
The Lady Tigers make their home debut next on Saturday, November 11
th at 1 p.m. ET taking on the Brescia University Bearcats.
