CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY – Campbellsville finished out the home portion of the schedule with a 78-66 win over rival Georgetown College.
Before the game began, Campbellsville recognized
Kaitlynn Wilks and
Courtney Pritchett for joining the 1,000-point club in their college basketball careers.
Lady Tigers jumped on top of Georgetown College early in the first quarter. At the media timeout, Wilks was shooting 3-3 from the field with seven points, while Pritchett hit back-to-back three-point baskets and had four rebounds. Through the end of the first quarter, Campbellsville was shooting an impressive 77% from the field. Wilks led all scorers with nine points.
Lauren Lee dished out four assists through the first ten minutes.
Campbellsville kept the high-scoring pace through the early stages of the second quarter. The team hit three three-point baskets in a row. Through the media timeout in the second quarter, Lady Tigers held Georgetown to only 40% shooting from the floor.
Maddie Nalley closed out the first half with a three-point basket with four seconds left on the clock.
The team outrebounded Georgetown 17-10 in the first half while keeping the tight defense and allowing them to only shoot 39.4% from the field.
At the start of the second half, Georgetown went on a 5-0 run to close the gap on Campbellsville. Georgetown began their offensive pressure by outscoring the Lady Tigers 8-6 through the media timeout in the third quarter. Campbellsville did not score a basket for almost three minutes in the third quarter. Pritchett closed out the third quarter with a three-point basket with 10 seconds left on the clock. Georgetown was able to outscore the Lady Tigers for the first time with a 16-14 advantage in the third.
Georgetown came out the as the aggressor in the fourth quarter hitting back-to-back baskets to shrink the lead down to the lowest since the first quarter at nine. Lady Tigers responded with a basket from
Bailey Pedigo, pushing the lead back to 11. Campbellsville went on a quick 11-2 run and shifted the momentum in the late stages of the game.
Lady Tigers would go on to finish the home portion of the regular season undefeated. Wilks led all scorers with 19 points, Lee finished with a double-double of 14 points and 12 assists, and Pedigo had 13 points and six rebounds.
Campbellsville will close out the regular season on Saturday, February 18th, when they travel to the University of the Cumberlands for a 1 p.m. ET tip-off.
