Tigers complete series sweep over Wilberforce

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville battled Wilberforce on Saturday for the second and third of their planned three-game series. The Tigers took the win for both games over the Bulldogs, notching hit after hit.

GAME ONE: Campbellsville 17, Wilberforce 1 

To start things off, leading batter Jorge Gonzalez doubled and then was sent home by a Noah Amenta single. The first three up, three down half inning occurred in Wilberforce's share of the second. Through the third inning, the Bulldogs only crossed the home plate once, while the Tigers totaled nine runs, highlighted by back-to-back homeruns from Grant McQueary and Lucas Banta as well as a two-RBI single from Amenta.  

During Campbellsville's fourth and fifth innings, both Mael Zan and Henry Wright smacked two-RBI singles; the Bulldogs did not make any hits or runs in their turns at the plate in the fourth and fifth innings. In the last two frames of the game, the Bulldogs gathered three hits with no runs, while the Tigers finished off strong winning the game.      

At the end of their first game, the Tigers sent in 17 runs and collected 12 hits while only allowing one run and five hits from the Bulldogs. Campbellsville had a .650 strike percentage and a .414 hitting percentage, compared to Wilberforce's .546 strike percentage and .192 hitting percentage.  

GAME TWO: Campbellsville 13, Wilberforce 3 

The second game started slow, with neither team making any runs but only a few hits each, until Campbellsville's three runs in the bottom of the third. An RBI single from Kale Seitz highlighted Campbellsville's share of the third inning. In the fourth, Chad McCann sent a ball over the fence for two RBI's, quickly followed by Seitz's double that also saw two Tigers across the plate.   

The Bulldogs started earning runs in their portion of the sixth inning. Even still, Banta, Josh Napier, and Seitz's singles, alongside Wright's double, propelled the Tigers forward to a 12-3 advantage after the seventh inning. Garrett Maloney recorded a new career high as a Tiger with nine strikeouts.        

At the end of their second and final game, the Tigers went for 13 runs and 22 hits while only allowing three runs and seven hits from the Bulldogs. Campbellsville had a .648 strike percentage and a .524 hitting percentage. 

The Tigers take the road for their next game on Friday, March 17th, in Georgetown, Kentucky, at 3:00 p.m. ET against Mid-South Conference rival Georgetown College.
