CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Tigers silenced the Mid-South Conference foe Midway Eagles in three sets with a season-high hitting percentage.
In set one, Campbellsville dominated from the first serve on with a 5-2 run over the Eagles. Two kills from
Reza Tahnasebi and an ace from
Diego Betancourt aided the spree. Campbellsville continued racking up aces from the service line as the set progressed. Tahnasebi and
Fernand Morales tallied two each. Aces of that quantity are far above the Tiger's season average. This season, the Tigers average 1.19 aces per set and they had five aces on the stat sheet in just the opening game. Campbellsville took it to Midway in the first set with a 25-11 win.
Set two was a slower start for the Tigers as both teams constantly fought to take the lead. Campbellsville finally took a grip on the advantage at 15-10 with a 5-0 run. The Tigers looked extremely united in their team chemistry, as their points came from various players.
Jannick Bachman held Campbellsville steady during the second set, posting six kills and hitting 0.857. The Tigers finished the frame 25-16.
In the final set, Campbellsville started hot like they were in the first with 7-2 run over Midway. The Tigers kept asserting themselves and showcased their fluidity as a team.
Diego Betancourt distributed the ball around the court, which kept Campbellsville's offense moving in the correct direction. The Eagles attempted to catch up to the Tigers, but they needed help to keep up with the Tigers' lethal offense on the night. Midway could not find an answer for
Karil Adeh's serve as he went on a four-point run to put away the game 25-16.
The Tigers ended with a season-high 0.470 team-hitting percentage. Tahnasebi led the squad with 12 kills and a 0.733 hitting percentage. Betancourt had the team-high in assists with 35 averaging 11.7 per set. Morales notched ten digs and two aces.
