#5 Park shuts Tigers down

PARKVILLE, Mo. – Campbellsville took to the road to Missouri for Saturday's game against #5 Park University. The Tigers couldn't get their offense orchestrating effectively and fell to the Pirates 3-0. 

At the beginning of the set, the two teams went back and forth, with Campbellsville taking advantage of Park University's errors. Jakob Zum Kolk made the first kill for the Tigers. Diego Betancourt made sure he passed the ball around, racking up seven assists. Still, the Tigers lost the first frame 25-19.   

The Pirates began the second set on a 5-0 run, taking advantage of Campbellsville's errors. Denzel Madrigal and Zum Kolk's kills kept the Tigers fighting, assisted by Betancourt and Andrew Steinmetz. Ultimately though, Park won the second set 25-10. The Tigers ended the frame with a -.034 hitting percentage. 

Going into the third set, the Tigers put in the effort to improve their hitting percentage. Alvaro Grande made the first kill for the Tigers in set three. Campbellsville benefited from Park's service errors, coming ahead on the scoreboard 9-8. The Tigers kept the margin close throughout the set, but it was not enough to win over Park. The Pirates won the third set, 25-19.   

Campbellsville finished the match with a hitting percentage of -.011, four aces, and two blocks, compared to Park's .347 hitting percentage, five aces, and 9.5 blocks. Zum Kolk led the team with nine kills, Fernand Morales with twelve digs, and Betancourt with sixteen assists.    

The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow, Sunday, March 5th, for day two in Missouri against Missouri Valley College at 7:00 p.m. ET.
