Boye, Baubeng pace Campbellsville over Mount Vernon Nazarene

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Tigers added another W to the win column Tuesday night with a well-balanced attack and by controlling the middle third of the pitch against the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars.

Through the first ten minutes of action, each team had taken one shot and placed it on frame. The first threatening moment would happen in the 12th minute of play. Felix Baubeng found himself attacking the back line. He scorched a shot, and the true freshman stood firm in goal for MVNU. Campbellsville was awarded a corner, and Diego Chainho headed a shot high. Following that, the Tigers stepped on the gas and sustained their offense. Campbellsville took four more shots over the next five minutes, but the game still stood scoreless. The Tigers continued to operate in the attacking third, scratching first. In the 26th minute, Chainho, on a corner set piece, fired a line drive and found the head of Marc Boye for the goal. This was Boyes' first goal of the year and Chainho's first assist. The Cougars wouldn't waste much time responding, but they hit the crossbar on a promising opportunity. Campbellsville cleared and took the goal advantage into the half.

Campbellsville outshot MVNU 14-3, placing ten on frame. The Cougars' keeper tallied nine saves through the first 45 minutes of play.

Antonio Quinta started fast out of the locker room. He found himself threatening as he blew by a defender in the box and was taken down. Campbellsville was awarded a penalty kick in the 47th minute, and Baubang delivered. The freshman was composed as he slotted the shot at the left post. On the ensuing kickoff, MVNU flipped the offense to their side. Christian Hauge would make three acrobatic saves over the next five minutes. Campbellsville continued to anchor down on defense. Both teams continue to create opportunities for the remainder of the half, but the score wouldn't change.

Campbellsville put 16 of their 21 shots on frame, which was good for a .762 shot-on-goal percentage. Hauge finished the clean sheet with five saves. Mihlali Blesi and Quinta each took four shots.

With the victory, Campbellsville moved to 7-1-1 on the season. They complete their two-game road trip on Saturday with a visit to University of the Cumberlands. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET.
