CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - The Tigers took the road for today's game against the Thomas More Saints. After tying at the half, Campbellsville returned for the final 45 and scored the winning goal in the 55th minute and closed the game at 3-2.
Thomas More scored the contest's first goal in just the sixth minute. Despite the Tigers' efforts, and with four shots halfway through the first 45 minutes of play, the Saints' defense did not allow any of their offensive opportunities to make it in the net. Not long after, at the 21-minute mark, Thomas More scored their second goal of the match. Campbellsville soon thereafter collected two corner kicks, still not landing any goals. With 13 minutes left before the halfway horn, Zinedeen Cassim scored for the Tigers, assisted by
Martin Larraguibel. As the first half ended, Felix Buabeng netted another goal for Campbellsville, tying the scoreboard 2-2. That marked the fact that, on the season, the freshman Baubeng had scored in each match.
The second half was somewhat of a stagnant start for both squads. Just as it seemed neither defense would relent, the Tigers struck a play with dominant action as Baubeng scored another goal, assisted by
Antonio Quinta. That was Baubeng's second brace of the season. Through the remainder of the contest, each team posted another corner kick but it was Thomas More with the most second-half shots (five to Campbellsville's two). By remaining steadfast in their defensive scheme and limiting quality looks from the Saints, the Tigers took the win, 3-2.
The Tigers will be back in action, traveling to Schaumburg, Illinois, to go against the Roosevelt University Lakers on September 7th, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
