CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – On Sunday, the Lady Tigers hosted their annual alumni wrestling dual facing off against Presbyterian College. Campbellsville proved their mettle, winning 31-15.
Before the dual began, nearly 15 alumni were recognized for their historic achievements. National Champions Tiaira Scott, Kenya Sloan and many other Lady Tigers appeared. 2021 graduate Madison Meyer led the team in prayer and then the dual was underway.
Leading off for the Ladies was Riley Banyas. Banyas, who had been down 4-0 after being taken down twice, hit a pancake on her opponent, putting her on her back, and pinned her shortly after.
At 109lbs, Gabrielle Medeiros was up to an early dominant 8-0 lead before pinning her opponent.
Wrestling at 116 pounds, Icart Galumette put on a takedown clinic, earning an uncontested 11-0 technical fall.
At 123lbs, Josie Davis fell to her opponent, #10 Alyssa Mahan,13-4 bringing the team score to 15-3 still in the Lady Tigers' favor.
Olivia Messerly (wrestling in the 130-poound slot) lost to her opponent with a fall.
At 136lbs and 143lbs, Gabrielle Perez and Emma Walker picked up back-to-back forfeits.
Wrestling at 155lbs, Kendra Thompson earned a pin after putting her opponent on her back near the edge of the mat.
In the 170-pound division, Sierra Chavez started and ended the first period down 5-2, and after a hard-fought battle was unable to close the gap against #10 Henlee Haynes.
For the 191-pound class, Lexiana Garcia fell to her opponent by fall. Yet, Campbellsville still pulled out the overall score 31-15.
