MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Campbellsville Tigers traveled to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, to take part in the first ever collegiate wrestling event on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown. Campbellsville University was one of eight teams to participate in the Throwdown on the Yorktown. The Tigers fell in their dual against NCAA Division One opponent Presbyterian College, 23-21.
The Tigers earned wins in many weight-classes: 103 lbs. (
Riley Banyas), 117 lbs. (
Icart Galumette), 124 lbs. (
Josie Davis), 145 lbs. (
Emma Walker), and 180 lbs. (Liliana Vergana).
Baynas won over Chiara Barbieri with a 12-2 technical fall. Galumette also won by technical fall, 10-0 over Charlee Shuler. Davis won over Regan Riddick by decision, 10-4. Walker took down Paige Wehrmeister, winning by fall at 1:36. Vergara won over Ella Beam by technical fall, 10-0.
Olivia Messerly, wrestling at 131 lbs., and
Sierra Chavez, wrestling at 160 lbs., lost by fall. Gabriella Perez at 138 lbs. lost by decision.
Gabrielle Medeiros at 110 lbs. and
Carlea Grissom at 207 lbs. fell by technical fall.
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, November 22
nd, to compete in the Missouri Valley Open in Marshall, Missouri.
