WARSAW, IN –
Christy Shank continued her comeback season Friday morning, winning the NCCAA title.
Shank had a convincing victory over Malone's Rylee Yocum by 13.20 seconds of 18:43.10, while Yocum's time was 18:56.30.
The Dr. Ray Bullock Award winner for the second year in a row,
Nina Daman, crossed the finish line in 19:47.90, placing 14th overall in the race.
Brianna Collins closed the gap from the 2-3 man this week, shrinking it to 28.40 seconds with a time of 20:16.30.
Emma Madding, a collegiate personal best in the 5K on Friday morning, placing 32nd overall in the race in 20:36.21.
Maggie Jewell was Campbellsville's fifth man in placing 46th in the race at 21:23.30.
Cailyn Godsey and
Jennifer Buttery rounded out the Tigers top seven at the NCCAA Championships. Godsey placed 57th in 21:46.30, while Buttery was three places behind in 60th at 22:11.50.
As a team, Campbellsville finished with 101 total points placing 3rd in the meet and a 1-5 spread of 2:40.20. Malone University won with 26 team points.
This concludes the Tigers season as a whole team.
Christy Shank and
Nina Daman will finish out the season at the NAIA National Championship in one week at Columbia, MO.
- This is the first NCCAA individual title in program history for the women's team.
- The 2-3 gap at the NCCAA Championship is the shortest it's been all season.
- For the NAIA Championships, this is the first season since the 2020-21 season that Campbellsville has sent more than one athlete.
