DANVILLE, KY – The Tigers had five NAIA Provisional Cuts and one school record over the weekend at Centre College.
Llewellyn Crewe-Brown had three NAIA cuts this past weekend. His first came in the 100-yard butterfly in the B final. He placed 17th overall in the event at 52.93. His second came from the 100-yard backstroke. Crewe-Brown was in the B final, where he placed 20th in 55.15. His final NAIA cut came out of the 200-yard IM. He was 20th in the B final in 2:00.65.
Ian Lopez and
Luis Castro both had the final provisional cuts. Castro was in the B final in the 500-yard freestyle placing 13th in 4:47.00. Lopez placed 16th in the B finals of the 50-yard freestyle while swimming a time of 21.82.
Yuri Prokopchuk had the lone school record on the weekend for Campbellsville. He lowered the time in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing 5th overall in the A final in 56.53.
The Tigers were able to qualifying for numerous finals throughout the course of the weekend. Campbellsville placed 16th to start the meet in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Lopez, Crewe-Brown,
Martin Venegas, and
Andreu Jaén Serra finished in 1:28.77. Jaen Serra was in the A final in the 500-yard freestyle placing 10th overall in 4:52.65.
Campbellsville placed 14th in back-to-back relays. In the 400-yard medley relay, Crewe-Brown, Prokopchuk, Lopez, and Jaen Serra finished in 3:33.98. For the 200-yard medley relay, Lopez, Prokopchuk, Crewe-Brown, and Jaen Serra swam a 1:36.30 for 14th.
Bosco Barrero made the B final in the 400-yard IM placing 17th in the finals in 4:35.66. Jaen Serra made his way to the B final of the 200-yard freestyle placing 19th in the event in 1:47.37. Campbellsville's best relay finish of the meet came in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Castro, Crewe-Brown, Lopez, and Jaen Serra placed 11th in 7:14.01.
Castro and Jaen Serra both placed in the top 15 of the 1650 freestyle. Castro was 8th overall in 16:38.74, and Jaen Serra placed 12th in 17:06.97. Four Tigers participated in the C final of the 100-yard freestyle. Barrero led the charge in 25th place in 49.28,
Jackson Willett was 27th in 50.28, Lopez placed 29th in 51.68, and Venegas was 30th in 57.16.
Prokopchuk qualified for the A final in the 200-yard breaststroke placing 9th in 2:09.49. The final individual event Campbellsville qualified for in the finals was the 200-yard butterfly. Castro made the B finals in the event with a 16th-place time of 2:04.35. In the final relay of the weekend, Campbellsville placed 13th in the 400-yard freestyle relay with Jaen Serra, Lopez, Willett, and Crewe-Brown swimming a time of 2:15.36.
As a team, Campbellsville placed 9th overall with 635 team points. The Tigers final meet before the Christmas break will be Friday, December 6th, at UT Southern.
