DANVILLE, Ky. – With the stakes at their highest and one final chance to punch tickets before nationals, the Campbellsville University swim teams rose to the moment at the Mid-South Conference Championships. The Tigers delivered record-breaking swims, provisional qualifiers, and championship-final performances throughout the weekend at the Boles Natatorium.
- Marlien Crewe-Brown captured the Mid-South Conference title in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.47) and added a silver medal in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.18).
- Victoria Lanza shattered the school record in the 200-yard freestyle, earning a bronze medal and an NAIA cut with a time of 1:58.56.
- Jacob Isacson secured a podium spot for the men's squad, taking bronze in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:57.06.
- The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team—Luis Castro, Adrien Cantemerle, Kyle Kleinhans, and Andreu Jaen Serra—raced to a third-place finish in 7:15.53.
- The women's 400-yard medley relay quartet of Natasha Maracci, Crewe-Brown, Sofia Tricoli, and Lanza set a new school standard with a time of 4:07.08.
- The Tigers now turn their attention to the NAIA National Championships, scheduled for March 3-6 in Elkhart, Indiana.
The tone was set early in the women's 400-yard medley relay. The quartet of
Natasha Maracci,
Marlien Crewe-Brown,
Sofia Tricoli, and Victoria Lanza rewrote the record books, touching the wall in 4:07.08 to place third.
Momentum carried into the individual events, where
Marlien Crewe-Brown dominated the breaststroke disciplines. Crewe-Brown claimed gold in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.47. She also secured a silver medal in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.18) and added a bronze-medal finish in the 50-yard freestyle (24.58), earning critical points for the Lady Tigers.
Victoria Lanza delivered one of the meet's standout performances in the 200-yard freestyle. Lanza clocked a personal-best 1:58.56 to take third place, securing an NAIA B cut and breaking the school record in the process.
In the backstroke events, Maracci continued the Tigers' run of clutch swims. She posted a personal-best time of 1:01.34 in the 100-yard backstroke A Final to finish sixth. On the men's side, Jacob Isacson earned individual hardware for Campbellsville, capturing bronze in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:57.06. Teammate
Luis Castro added a strong sixth-place finish in the same final, touching in 2:03.55.
The distance events saw the Tigers battle through demanding schedules. In the men's 500-yard freestyle A Final,
Andreu Jaen Serra clocked a season-best 4:45.27 to finish fourth. The mile events capped the distance efforts, with Castro (16:48.71) and Jaen Serra (16:51.48) finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, both turning in NAIA-level performances. For the women, Clara Björkegren finished sixth in the 1650-yard freestyle (19:19.35), while
Adison Melton (19:59.07) and
Melanie Vogeler (20:47.51) added top-10 finishes.
Kyle Kleinhans advanced to the A Final of the men's 100-yard butterfly, touching seventh with a time of 53.87, and later returned to compete in the 100-yard backstroke final. In the breaststroke,
Bikash Kumal added a personal-best swim of 1:00.86 in the 100-yard event to finish tenth.
The relay teams provided an exclamation point on the weekend. The men's 800-yard freestyle relay squad of Castro, Cantemerle, Kleinhans, and Jaen Serra surged to a bronze-medal finish with a time of 7:15.53. The women's 400-yard freestyle relay team—Crewe-Brown,
Chloe Little, Lanza, and
Charlotte Stull—set a new school record of 3:47.54, placing fourth.
Reagan Reany also represented Campbellsville in the championship finals, finishing seventh in the women's 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:09.61.
Campbellsville walked away from Danville with new school records, multiple medals, and confirmed spots for the NAIA National Championships, set for March 3-6 in Elkhart, Indiana.
