MARSHALL, Mo. – The Campbellsville Tigers women's wrestling team traveled to Marshall, Missouri, to participate in the Missouri Valley Open over the weekend. The Lady Tigers had four wrestlers place in the top eight.

Brianna Staebler led the way for Campbellsville, landing a second-place finish in the 235 lbs. weight-class. After receiving a bye in her first match, Staebler won by fall (0:43) over unattached Melissa De La Torre.

Emma Walker and Liliana Vergara collected fifth-place finishes in their respective brackets. Walker, wrestling in the 145 lbs. weight-class, won by fall three times (0:22 over Oklahoma State University's Kaiulani Garcia, 0:52 over unattached Eduarda Batista Rodriguez, and 0:43 over Texas Women's University's Maegan Flaherty), and by technical fall twice (10-0 over Grand View's Haidyn Snyder and 10-0 over University of the Cumberlands' Alivia Ming). Vergara, wrestling in the 180m lbs. weight-class, won by fall three times (1:07 over Iowa Lakes Community College's Keyahna Phillips, 1:20 over Ottawa University's Kaylee Davis, and 1:25 over William Penn University's Grace Gray), by technical fall three times (10-0 over Texas Women's University's Mia Howell, 12-2 over Fort Hays State's Isabella Renfro, and 10-0 over Sacred Heart's Madison Sandquist), and by decision (7-1 over University of the Cumberlands' Saiheron Preciado-Meza).

The final Lady Tiger to finish in the top eight was Cameron Ortiz. Ortiz, wrestling in the 131 lbs.-bracket, received a bye twice before wrestling several matches. After winning by decision over Carl Albert's Oliva Sandoval (14-6), Ortiz won five-straight matches by fall (3:00 over Texas Women's University's Livier Dubon, 1:25 over Texas Women's University's Brooke Zejda, 2:18 over Valiant's Martynique Davis, 0:54 over William Penn University's Devin Patton, and 3:39 over Lindenwood University's Talia Lee).

Campbellsville will be back in action on Friday, December 6th, to wrestle in the University of the Cumberlands Duals in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
