KINGSPORT, Tenn. — The #3 Campbellsville Lady Tigers capped off their tenure at The Show with a big, 18-point win against the Faulkner Eagles.
Campbellsville went down early looking at a 6-2 deficit after a couple of minutes of play. The offense got going though with
Whitney Hay's three and with
Lauren Lee finding the free throw line. The Lady Tigers faced the potential of losing their first quarter of the season in the game's opener with time winding down, but
Talynne Shearer and Hay's baskets in the concluding minute pushed them ahead by a single possession, 16-13.
From there, The Lady Tigers didn't look back. They held the Eagles to an inefficient 4-15 in the second period. Campbellsville took over on the boards too, nearly doubling them 13-7. The Lady Tigers extended their lead up to 11 before going into the break with 33-23.
The third quarter saw Campbellsville falter in offensive efficiency, but they further cracked down on D. They forced five turnovers on that end while they held onto their possessions, coughing over the ball only once. Although they shot only 35% from the field, they brought down seven offensive rebounds and limited the Eagles to none, consistently ending Faulkner offensive sequences. Despite their shooting struggles, Campbellsville emerged from the third quarter having extended their advantage, 44-30.
For the second consecutive quarter, the Lady Tigers would outscore the Eagles by four. The Campbellsville offensive came alive, making 11 baskets (besting their second-most of seven in the third period). The Lady Tigers left The Show with an 18-point victory over Faulkner.
Next, Campbellsville will be back in action at home on December 1st at 1p.m. ET against Carolina University.
