Lady Tigers close out Campbellsville Classic victorious against Lady Barons

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The #4 Lady Tigers hosted the Brewton-Parker Lady Barons on Saturday. Nearly doubling Brewton-Parker's point total, Campbellsville was firing on all cylinders, 76-47.

Paige Serafini opened the game with an avid three-point bucket assisted by Lauren Lee. Halfway through the first quarter, the Lady Tigers quickly reached double digits on the scoreboard while the Lady Barons had only managed to land one three-point bucket. Brewton-Parker's fouls brought Campbellsville to the charity stripe on multiple occasions, racking up more points to amplify their advantage. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Tigers led 24-5.

The Lady Barons struggled to move past Campbellsville's defense to score. The Lady Tigers reached 30 points before Brewton-Parker managed to reach double digits. With a couple of buckets the Lady Barons decreased their deficit on the scoreboard, still struggling to deter Campbellsville from propelling forward on the lead. With a 22-point advantage, the Lady Tigers remained on the lead at the half, 42-20.

Brewton-Parker scored the first basket of the second half. Bree Gowdy and Whitney Hay's steals kept returning the ball to the Lady Tigers. Hay and Lee quickly increased their advantage to 26 points over the Lady Barons. Campbellsville continued to capitalize off Brewton-Parker's fouls to rack up free-throws at the charity stripe. Going into the last quarter, the Lady Tigers remained on the lead, 62-33.

From the opening seconds of the fourth quarter, Hay came into the game with strong offensive strikes against the Lady Barons, scoring her first three-point basket of the season. The game came to a scoring halt, as neither team's defense would ease their pressure on the court. Brewton-Parker attempted to retaliate, but with less than two minutes left on the clock, their offensive efforts were not enough to catch up. At the end of the game, the Lady Tigers took the victory, 76-47.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action traveling to Kingsport, Tennessee to battle the Reinhardt University Eagles on Friday, November 29th.
