Tigers attack basket at will to beat Oakland City, 79-42

KINGSPORT, Tenn. — The Tigers took the road to battle the Oakland City University Mighty Oaks on Sunday morning for their final contest at this year's The Show. More than doubling Oakland City in the paint, Campbellsville's aggression took them the victory, 79-42.

From the early stages of the game, both teams came onto the court with intense back-and-forth, battling for the lead. The Tigers struck first with a smooth jumper from Jay Milburn, assisted by Javaughn Smith. The Mighty Oaks responded with a jumper of their own. The opening minutes were highlighted by multiple defensive stops from both teams, with very turnover-heavy play. Campbellsivlle managed to build an early lead from the free-throw line, but Oakland City remained only a couple of points behind, threatening to catch up with the advantage. However, with avid layups by Cobe Penny, the Tigers closed the first half on the lead, 31-27.

Dalton Kramer began the second half leading the charge to amplify Campbellsville's lead. The Tigers' offensive rebounds and three-pointers propelled Campbellsville forward, sustaining their upper hand. The Mighty Oaks retaliated with a couple of layups to come closer to the lead, but the Tigers' defense boosted their efforts, as Ra Briggs and Smith collected key rebounds. Halfway through the second half, Kramer's buckets beyond the arch increased Oakland City's deficit on the scoreboard. The Mighty Oaks struggled with turnovers, providing Campbellsville with more opportunities to score. Briggs and Noah Gordon's rebounds amplified the Tigers' momentum, continuing to strengthen hold on the lead. At the end of the game, Campbellsville took the victory, 79-42.

The Tigers will be back in action hosting the Midway University Eagles on Friday, December 13th beginning at 3 p.m. ET.
