Resilient Tigers fall short in rally to push past Eagles, 85-76

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Tigers hosted the Midway University Eagles on Friday following a 12-day break from action. Although Campbellsville came back from a 15-point deficit and cut the contest to three points in the second half, Midway took the win, 85-76.

The Tigers' opening minutes showcased strong offensive efforts. Dalton Kramer and Javaughn Smith's shots from beyond the arc set the pace for Campbellsville's high-energy presence. The Tigers' gameplay moving the ball up and down the court saw them to capitalize off multiple opportunities to continue to rack up easy baskets. However, as the first half continued to unfold, the Eagles disrupted Campbellsville's momentum, forcing them into multiple turnovers and decreasing their scoring opportunities by cutting off their drives to the rim. Midway took over the lead with consistent successful buckets in the paint, widening the gap in the scoreboard. Cobe Penny and Ra Briggs attempted to retaliate from the charity stripe coming off the bench. However, at the half, the Tigers trailed 47-32.

KJ Banks came into the second half sinking a corner three in Campbellsville's attempts to catch up with the Eagles. However, Midway continued to keep their lead around ten throughout. The Tigers, halfway through the second half, saw Keaston Brown and Kramer collect a few layups, but the Eagles counteracted their efforts with buckets of their own. With five minutes left on the contest, Smith and Penny decreased the Tigers' deficit on the scoreboard to three points with back-to-back buckets. The Eagles though kept finding the bottom of the net, converting at the rim (even though the Tigers had accumulated 13 blocks) and from deep. Despite Campbellsville's efforts to bounce back and steal the lead in the winding moments, Midway took the victory, 85-76.

The Tigers will be back in action hosting the Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers on Tuesday, December 17th beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
